Broome County Peace Action is dedicated to abolishing nuclear weapons, constructing a world of peace and justice, and eliminating militarism as a method of resolving conflict. We hope to accomplish these objectives through educational outreach to the public and to those in government responsible for our domestic and foreign policy.
Early in 2019, during a BCPA Board meeting that was focused on brainstorming how to facilitate a cultural shift in America from militarism to the peaceful resolution of conflict, a fair was mentioned as a possible vehicle. Eventually, Doug Garnar suggested it be a children’s fair. There was consensus on the Motion, and thus began what ultimately became our first annual Children’s Peace Fair on August 6, 2019.
On the second Saturday of each month, Broome County Peace Action and Broome County Veterans for Peace hold combined meetings at 10:30 AM. The venue is the First Congregational Church located at the corner of Main and Front Streets in Binghamton. All are welcome to attend.
